Meditate on What???

"This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success." -Joshua 1:8

For some months now I have been learning about faith. One thing that I have learned is that in order for me to increase my faith, I have to meditate on God's word and His Word only. Mediating on the Word of God is necessary in order for us (Christians) to live the life God has ordained for us to have. Meditation can change and will change your way of thinking. Meditation is POWERFUL.

I have two definitions for meditation:
  • "Meditation is a God given process that causes a permanent change in our thinking." -Minister L. Cheek
  • "Meditation is a spiritual experience that converts your belief"- Dr. Bill Winston
How do you meditate on God's word? Here's a example from my life, the enemy used to attack me with headaches. I got to the point where I was taking medicine like it was candy. I came to the point where I was tired of suffering with headaches. Well, as a Christian healing is my kingdom right. So I looked up a scripture, in this case it was Psalms 30:2. I took that scripture and I wrote it down, I typed it up, and I said it multiple times. I thought about the scripture constantly! Before I knew it I saw myself healed from headaches, so the next time a headache came my way I was able to block it with the Word. And guess what??? IT WORKED! Meditation brings forth manifestation. If you want to see something manifested in your life, meditate on God's Word. The enemy knows that meditation is powerful, that's why he wants us to worry instead of meditate. Worrying is the opposite of meditation. Worrying keeps you in a bad situation, meditation brings you out of the situation!

In my studies on meditation I have discovered eight benefits of meditating on God's Word:
  1. Make our own way prosperous (Joshua 1:8)
  2. Examines (Does my life line up with the Word?)
  3. Dismisses everything contrary (2 Corinthians 10:4-5)
  4. Inviting "truth" to transform (Romans 12:2)
  5. Training your mind (Romans 12:1-2)
  6. Access (Romans 5:2)
  7. Taking hold of "truth" ( 1 Timothy 4:16)
  8. Engrafts (James 1:21, AMP)
*Spoiler alert: the eight benefits spell MEDITATE :)

  1. Good one. I believe in the power of meditation as well. I have my sister meditating on the words, "by His stripes I am healed." She says it several times a day and believes. Faith can move mountains and meditation can move your mind, body, soul, and spirit.

    1. Amen! When I got the revelation about how powerful meditation is, it changed my entire view on faith! When we meditate on God's word, something will happen!
