I was flipping through the radio station on my way home one day and Beyonce's song "Upgrade You" was playing. In this particular song she is singing about how she can "upgrade" her love interest from one status to a better status if he chooses her. When the phrase "upgrade you" played I automatically thought about my relationship with Jesus Christ. I had a "flashback" of how my life was before salvation. I immediately thought, "WOW....what an upgrade!" My life has been upgraded to something so much better since I decided to follow Jesus Christ.
In the world there are so many upgrades that are available, one that stands out the most to me are plane upgrades. When you go to book a ticket, you may get to a page that asks if you would like to upgrade. Sometimes before you board a plane, they may ask if anyone would like to upgrade to first class. Upgrading to first class comes with a lot of benefits, but with those upgrades you have to pay more money. So a lot of people do not like to upgrade, not because of the benefits, but because of the price. Choosing Christ is an upgrade. A lot of benefits however, there is a price. Many people do not want to pay the price so they reject Christ and all His benefits.
Salvation is the BEST upgrade you will choose, if you choose it. In salvation there is wholeness, deliverance, freedom, healing, everlasting life, and so many promises. However, there is a cost! The price is YOU. You have to be willing to move yourself out of the way and allow God to have full reign in your life. Unfortunately, many people will choose to stay in coach (the world), and few will choose the upgrade (Jesus). You can not choose both. I like what Matthew 6:24 says; "No one can serve two masters...".
So I ask you this one question.....would you like to upgrade?
13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad and easy to travel is the path that leads the way to destruction and eternal loss, and there are many who enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow and difficult to travel is the path that leads the way to [everlasting] life, and there are few who find it." -Matthew 7: 13-14 (AMP)

ReplyDeletePeople are often afraid to pay the price or let go of old ways but I always think about Romans 6:23. "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life." I choose God because not upgrading cost your life! Great post.
