"4 Do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. 5 Have this same attitude in yourselves which was in Christ Jesus [look to Him as your example in selfless humility], 6 who, although He existed in the form and unchanging essence of God [as One with Him, possessing the fullness of all the divine attributes—the entire nature of deity], did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped or asserted [as if He did not already possess it, or was afraid of losing it]; 7 but emptied Himself [without renouncing or diminishing His deity, but only temporarily giving up the outward expression of divine equality and His rightful dignity] by assuming the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men [He became completely human but was without sin, being fully God and fully man]. 8 After He was found in [terms of His] outward appearance as a man [for a divinely-appointed time], He humbled Himself [still further] by becoming obedient [to the Father] to the point of death, even death on a cross." - Philippians 2:4-8 (AMP)
Since I started SAS blog the goal was and will always be to spread the Word of God to as many people as I can. Then something shifted.....I started to become selfish. What do I mean by that? The goal shifted from spreading the gospel to all things me. The thoughts of, "I have to walk the white line", "everyone is watching me", " people are looking for me to mess up", "I thought this one or that one would promote my blog", "what if I can't do this?", etc. I was becoming bombarded in my mind with thoughts of failure and disappointment. My expectation was in me and other people. It was becoming too much, then someone dear to me reminded me that it is NOT about me. A light bulb went ON in my spirit.
I was reminded in that moment that this blog is not about me, It's all about spreading the Word of God! I am the vessel that God chose to spread His gospel and that HAS to be my main focus. My expectation has to be in God and him only. Psalms 62:5 (KJV) says, "My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him."
Disciples, in this Christian walk we have to remember that it is not about us. We can't let our selfish thoughts or ways dictate our lives. Just imagine if God was selfish, we would have never had a chance at salvation. John 3:16 which states, "For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His[One and] [a]only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish, but have eternal life." If God was selfish do you think he would let his only son die for us? Once we move ourselves out of the way, God can fully use us. So I ask this question: are you SELFish?
Thanks for reading!!!
To know God is to love Him. To love God we have to give of ourselves. Spending time with God daily is equal to eating healthy and getting exercise. It does a body good. The more we give of ourselves to God and others the more enriched our lives will be.
